Toni Borg is probably the most unique player in this tournament in the sense that he is one of the few players who has participated in all World Veterans and European Veterans Championships.
World Veterans Championships is played every even year since 1982. The European Veteran Championships is also played every two years but odd years and these championships began in 1995.
Toni Borg has been successful in both of these Championships over the years. At the World Veterans Toni has won one title, 2004, when he won the men’s doubles 65. In addition, he has reached three more finals at these championships. At the European Veteran Championships there have been no victories yet, but two final places, 1999 in men’s doubles 60 and 2003, at men’s doubles 65, respectively.
Toni Borg is also unique in Swedish Veteran Championships over the years.
Already in 1972 he participated for the first time and it conquered a silver medal in men’s doubles 35.
He has participated in more than 40 Swedish National Veteran Championships and almost every time he has returned home with at least one medal.
In veteran contexts, Toni has taken over thirty Swedish National Veterans Championship titles in different classes.
But he is still without victory in the European Veterans. Perhaps there may be a change in this year when Toni enter the men’s singles and doubles 80.
During his active period as national team player, Toni Borg participated in the Swedish National Team at the World Championships twice, in 1957 and 1959. At the European Championships 1960 he achieved his greatest success when Sweden came second in team.
